Quartz is what most of our kitchens end up with, and the reason is boring but decisive: it does not need looking after.

It is non-porous, so it does not stain the way granite and marble do. It never needs sealing — not the first year, not the tenth. Red wine, olive oil, lemon juice, coffee. Wipe it up whenever you get to it.

Choice Quartz runs to 102 colours, from near-solid whites through boldly veined marble-looks to solid blacks.

What quartz will not do

We would rather tell you now than after installation.

It does not love heat

Set a pan straight off the burner on quartz and you risk a scorch mark or a hairline crack. Use a trivet. If you are the kind of cook who will not, look at porcelain instead — that is a real reason to switch materials, and we will say so.

Direct sun will fade it over years

Fine indoors. Not a material for an uncovered outdoor kitchen.

Seams exist

Slabs are 126″ × 63″. A kitchen bigger than that has a seam somewhere, and a good fabricator hides it — over a cabinet run, away from the sink. We will show you the seam plan before we cut.
